Türkenschanzpark in Vienna’s 18th District is a scenic urban park known for its ponds, streams, rare plants, monuments, sports facilities, and the Yunus Emre Fountain.
Türkenschanzpark, located in Vienna’s 18th District, is a historic and scenic urban park covering about 150,000 square meters. Built on the grounds of the former “Türkenschanze” and a sand-and-gravel pit, it was designed by city gardener Gustav Sennholz in the English landscape style and opened to the public in 1888. The park features the Paulinenwarte observation tower, historic monuments, and decorative fountains, including the Yunus Emre Fountain, a Turkish-Ottoman–style gift from Turkey in 1991. Over the years, it has expanded organically, hosting rare and labeled ornamental trees, alpine flowers, walking paths, sports facilities, playgrounds, and ponds with streams and waterfalls. Once the site of festivals and public events, Türkenschanzpark remains a popular destination for relaxation, recreation, and cultural appreciation.
