In the little rose garden of the first rose village in Germany, 800 rose bushes of various varieties are planted. In summer, thousands of roses bloom in the rose village of Schmitshausen.
In the rose village of Schmitshausen, thousands of roses bloom in summer. In 1999, Germany's first rose village opened a rose garden. There, 800 rose bushes of various varieties are planted. The honorary president of the Association of German Rose Friends and rose gardener of the flower island Mainau, Josef Raff, designed the rose garden in the style of a monastery garden. An honorary citizen of Schmitshausen has been dedicated a unique rose variety in recognition of his outstanding volunteer work, the Hans-Erich-Henkes rose.
