The "Kalmitwingert" is located on the southwest side of the Kleine Kalmit. The association "Gast und Wein Ilbesheim" leased the 2,900 m² property within the vineyard site "Ilbesheimer Rittersberg" in 1996 and established the historical vineyard layout there.
Various forms of vine training from antiquity to modern times can be found here. A walk along the educational path is like a journey through the history of viticulture.
The view from Kalmitwingert over the vineyard landscape of the Southern Wine Road towards the Palatinate Forest was awarded the "Most Beautiful Wine View of the Palatinate" by the German Wine Institute in 2020.
Picnic in Nature
Whether on a hike or a bike tour: A picnic in the open air is a special experience – especially with regional specialties from the Palatinate! To keep nature as untouched as possible, please only use designated rest areas. In forests and vineyards, there are often no trash cans to avoid attracting wildlife and to keep the landscape clean.
Therefore, the rule is: Take back everything you bring with you. Food scraps and packaging can be dangerous for animals and often take decades to decompose. Dispose of your waste responsibly and protect the unique nature of the Palatinate!
