The large window in the Prisanka wall is the most famous natural window in the Julian Alps and one of the largest natural openings in Slovenia. It is about 80 m high and 40 m wide.
The furrowed walls and the fresh scree underneath prove that the rock has been broken. A cavity was formed, which, through weathering, has grown to its present size. The window can be seen from the road. But if you take the ridge path from Vršič towards the top of Prisanek, the path leads you past the window and you can look out into the valley!
Which is the correct name: Prisank or Prisojnik? This dilemma has existed for more than a hundred years. In any case, the name tells us that it is a mountain facing the sun.
