Prisojnik (2547 m), Jubilee trail
Prisojnik is a mighty and wonderful mountain above the Vršič pass. In the lower part of the north face, the beautiful face of the petrified Ajdovska deklica looks at us, above under the ridges it is decorated with two huge stone windows. On the western side, above the Vršič pass, is the Prednje okno, on the eastern side, through the Zadnji Prisojnik, a similarly large Zadnje okno. Both windows have demanding climbing mountain routes.
Our choice is the Jubilee trail through the Zadnje okno. Because of the distance from the pass, this path is much less frequented, but in terms of attractiveness equally or perhaps more magnificent than the more popular Kopiščar trail through the Prednje okno.

Safety information
The Jubilee trail is not a modern via ferrata secured with a steel cable from start to finish, but a traditional secured mountain path. This means that there are exposed sections without protective steel cables that require a lot of extra caution.
On the passage through the window there is a possibility of falling rocks – we should avoid days when the temperature in the mountains fluctuates around freezing point.
On the approach and descent, there are shorter sections where the path is poorly visible. Orientation is not difficult, but we must follow the description.
This is a very demanding mountain path. Use of mountain paths is at your own risk.
Tips and suggestions
The route can also be done in the opposite direction. If we choose Vršič as the starting point, our route will be at least one hour longer.Roadbook
Exactly at the 29th hairpin bend we find a path that takes us around a steep edge onto a comfortable mule track. We follow the mule track first horizontally into the forest, then upwards in nicely laid out bends to the abandoned Kranjska planina. At the lower edge of the plateau we are cheered by a spring flowing into a trough hollowed out of a larch log. The well-trodden path disappears here. We continue along the lower edge of the plateau to the right upwards, over a hill into a neighboring small valley and further across a clearing, still right upwards, until we find the marked path that connects Vršič and Mlinarica (about 200 m from the trough). We continue along this path at a moderate ascent further right over the southern slopes of Prisojnik into the back of the Mlinarica valley.
Under Mali Razor, a mighty tower on the ridge above Mlinarica, we find a junction. To the right, over the Razor wall, the path continues towards Kriški pods, to the left branches off our Jubilee trail. We follow the Jubilee trail first consistently under the ridge, then upwards to the Škrbina (1995 m) under an elegant stone tower. Here the climbing section begins.
We follow the cables first along the ridge, then the path under a large rocky overhang turns left into the southern slopes. An exposed traverse leads us into a easier but still exposed terrain. In the area of a pronounced gully we continue upwards. Under the edge of the wall the slope increases again. We climb over a vertical, exposed, but well protected section (the hardest place on the path) and suddenly find ourselves on the edge of a huge and impressively picturesque stone window.
Through the window we walk to the north side of the mountain. A view opens up of Škrlatica, Kranjska Gora and Austrian peaks in the distance. We continue along beautiful, exposed ledges with a moderate ascent around Zadnji Prisojnik. We turn under picturesque Zvonikov towers and climb up behind them into a notch where we join the path which climbs from Vršič along the southern side to Prisojnik. Another half hour climb awaits us to the summit.
We can continue the route along the scenic ridge trail past the Prednje okno to Vršič, but if we want to return to the car at our starting point, we descend back along the path to the southern side: first to the junction with our Jubilee trail, then further down. Below the rocky cliffs the path begins to turn towards Vršič. Under a steep cut-off wall we find a path junction that connects to our Jubilee trail on the other side of Zvonikov, under this junction an evident debris-filled gully descends in a straight line to Kranjska planina, where we started the ascent this morning. The trail through the gully is poorly visible, but the gully itself is unmistakable. We descend straight down it until we meet the path that connects Vršič with Mlinarica again. We continue across Kranjska planina and descend back to our starting point at the 29th hairpin bend via the mule track.
