The Sylt Museum (formerly the Sylt Local History Museum) is located in Keitum above the green cliff. The lower jaw bones of a fin whale mark the entrance to the old captain's house.
In the Sylt Museum, you can marvel at historical Sylt costumes, old grandfather clocks and tobacco tins, nautical instruments, a hand stick made from fish vertebrae and much more. The diverse exhibits tell the story of Sylt and give an insight into the life of the seafarers. In the gallery in the side wing, you can learn a lot about the lives of important Sylt personalities. You can also learn about the history of the island's origins in the geological section of the museum.
