STRAHLERMUSEUM

The youngest of the three museums in the fortress above Naters, which opened on 31 August 2018, is the Swiss Radiation Museum. Its aim is to explain the search for minerals in the Swiss mountains and to document the knowledge and skills of the blasters.

The visibility

Visitors gain an insight into the passion of the blasters and the attraction of the crystals. The knowledge of how to retrieve them from the rock as intact as possible, a family secret guarded by mountain farmers for centuries, is now in danger of being lost.

The formation of crystals  

Questions about how crystals are formed or what a fissure actually looks like and where the major discovery areas are are answered in the Radiation Museum.
 
Crystals as far as the eye can see. A variety of sizes, locations and radiance. A good place to reflect on the natural wealth of nature.
 
With the newly introduced guest card, admission to the Radiant Museum is free.

Opening times

Without guided tour: Visits to the museums in the Simplon Fortress are possible on Saturdays from June to October between 14.00 and 17.00.
With guided tour: Guided tours for groups of ten or more people are available daily throughout the year on request. (Museum Simplon Fortress or Gardemuseum or Strahlermuseum)

All year round: Guided tours for groups of ten or more are available daily throughout the year on request. The price includes a guided tour of each museum, for example the Swiss Radiation Museum.
