Rančić Family House, Grocka

Dating back to the early 19th century, the Rančić Family House was constructed by the Rančić family using locally sourced materials and traditional building methods. Notably, the structure was built without the use of metal nails, relying instead on wooden joinery techniques. Its architectural style follows the Kosovo-type ground-floor house, characterised by a spacious wooden porch, wide overhanging eaves, and a roof covered with traditional tiles known as jeremiad. The house remained in the possession of the Rančić family for nearly two centuries, preserving its original character and atmosphere.

Since 2008, the building has functioned as the Cultural Centre of Grocka, serving both as a museum space and a hub for local cultural activities. Inside, visitors can explore exhibitions related to the region’s history and traditions, while also finding informational materials such as brochures, postcards, and souvenirs. The house is often noted for its peaceful setting and authentic ambience, offering a glimpse into the domestic life of 19th-century Serbia.
