The Austrian Jewish Museum had the great fortune to be established in a historic building of the former Jewish street of Eisenstadt. It is thus located at a place where a significant Jewish community resided for more than 250 years. The museum was founded in 1972 as the first Jewish museum in Austria after 1945. Visitors can not only explore the former private synagogue and the museum's collections, but also gain an impression of the old Jewish houses and the two Jewish cemeteries.
The Austrian Jewish Museum is open to individual visitors from May to October, and for groups (from 10 persons and school groups) by prior arrangement year-round.
NOTICE! On Jewish holidays (22.5., 13.9., 21.9., 27.9., 4.10.2026) the museum is closed.
