Skulptur "Koarl" vor dem RathausPhoto: Stadtgemeinde Oberwart
Intended as a loan, the seated sculpture in front of the town hall quickly became a favorite and coveted photo motif in the city. In the meantime, "Koarl" has become a true Oberwarter.
In the run-up to the opening of the town hall in September 2017, artist Professor Josef Lehner was commissioned to create a border guard for the entrance area of the building based on the Oberwart coat of arms. The man with the trumpet is not only a popular photo motif, he is also a good listener and keeps all those waiting at the bus stop company.
The model for the sitting sculpture with trumpet was the Ollersdorf-born musician Karl Fassl. He was a good acquaintance of the artist Professor Josef Lehner and had composed a piece in his honor.
