The Plague Column was erected in 1713 as an honorary column of the Holy Trinity and the crowned Queen of Heaven Mary. In gratitude that the plague epidemic of 1713 was over, the "Royal Freystatt Eysenstatt" had this column erected in the heart of the city, at today's main square.
