Due to construction of a dam, a small lake was formed. It is a cultural monument by now.

The Martinsklause is one of the best preserved Klausen - also called Schwellen - in the national park. As an artificial reservoir, the bodies of water were created for timber drift in the 19th century. Only during the thawing period, the mountain streams provide enough water to transport wood towards the valley. Because of this fact, the streams were dammed and discharged up to twice a day in order to flood them. The Klause is now under protection order.
