A helyi legenda szerint a kőpiramist az egyiptomi kultúra nagy csodálójaként ismert Pappenheim Szigfrid gróf emeltette egy elhunyt rokona emlékére. A családtag – akinek nevét nem őrizték meg a krónikák – egy rangon aluli lányba szeretett bele az elbeszélés szerint, amit a nemesi család idősebb tagjai nem néztek jó szemmel, így a szerelem nem teljesedhetett be. Az ismeretlen nevű férfiú bánatában önkezével vetett végett életének, és a fent nevezett gróf úgy döntött, emléket állít neki.
A piramis 1936-ban már biztosan állt (ekkor hunyt el az építtető), és az 1960-es években bontották el – több forrás szerint ennek oka az volt, hogy a kommunista hatalom nem nézte jó szemmel az egykori arisztokráciára emlékeztető építményt. Akárhogyan is történt, a helyiek széthordták a piramist alkotó köveket, és végül 2014-ben a helyi erdőgazdálkodó társaság építette azt újjá. Az eredetileg tíz méter magas építmény tetejét egy gömb, éleit pedig vasalás díszítette – a mostani piramis alacsonyabb és kicsit egyszerűbb kivitelű ennél, ezzel együtt története, egyedisége és a mellette kiépített pihenőhely miatt érdekes célpontja a kirándulóknak.
