Der eindrückliche, zweistöckige Erker von 1650 könnte vom gleichen Künstler wie der Kamelerker an der Spisergasse in St. Gallen geschaffen worden sein, er zeigt die gleiche üppige Formenpracht.

Der Bau des Hauses erfolgte um 1510. Der Künstler Theo Glinz, der bereits 1927 den Erker bemalt hatte, kre-ierte 1953 das Sgraffito «Eden oder Urwald».
