Der Standort des ”Grand Canon” (großes Geschütz) entspricht der betonierten Grube, die als Sitz für das schwenkbare Kanonengestell diente. Dieses 380 mm Geschütz mit langer Tragweite (40 km) wurde von den Deutschen ab Mitte September 1915 eingesetzt. Das Ziel war, Belfort zu bombardieren, um denken zu lassen, dass sie einen Angriff durch die burgundische Pforte vorbereiteten. Es handelte sich um einen Scheinangriff, da sie den großen Angriff von Verdun (Frühjahr 1916) vorgesehen hatten. Das Geschütz wurde Oktober 1916 zurückgeführt.
