Gräfinthal Abbey is located near Bliesmengen-Bolchen in the Mandelbach Valley.
According to tradition, Countess Elisabeth of Blieskastel founded the Wilhelmite monastery near Bliesmengen in 1243. Over the course of its history, the monastery was destroyed and rebuilt several times. Gräfinthal was the last Wilhelmite monastery on German soil and was dissolved by Pope Clement XIV in 1785 on the initiative of Countess Marianne von der Leyen of Blieskastel. Since 1999, the monastery has been repopulated by the Benedictine Order.
The monks celebrate Holy Mass every day at 10:30 a.m. as a Latin-German conventual Mass. Pilgrim groups are welcome in the afternoon for the Marian celebration. A pilgrim Mass is celebrated on Sundays at 6 p.m. from Easter to All Saints' Day.
