2015 júniusában adták át a kirándulóknak a Köves-tető oldalában, 458 méteren álló, 24 m magas, hatszög alaprajzú tornyot, amit acélból és fából építettek Szabó Péter tervei szerint. A 15 m magasan kialakított kilátószintre felkapaszkodva a változatos mecseki táj tárul elénk. Délnyugat felé a névadó Köves-tetőt láthatjuk; távolabb a Misina emelkedik, keleten pedig a Zengő és a Hármas-hegy uralják a látványt. A Szársomlyó, a Papuk és a Villányi-hegység is a körpanoráma része, a fák zöldjébe pedig Pécs látványa vegyül.
A környék és érdekességei
A Hosszúhetény és Komló-Zobákpuszta közötti kilátóhoz számtalan turistaösvény, köztük több tematikus út vezet – mint például a Rockenbauer Pál Dél-dunántúli Kéktúra és a Skóciai Szent Margit Zarándokút. Szintén a közelben vezet az Üvegesek útja Pusztabányán és Hosszúhetényen keresztül.
A kilátó szomszédságában régebben fonolitbánya működott. A fonolit (vagy más néven hangkő, csengőkő) finomszemcsés szerkezetű vulkáni kőzet; hazánkban egyedül a Mecsekben bukkan a felszínre Hosszúhetény és Hird határában. A hajdani kitermelés helyét szemügyre vehetjük (déli irányban) a kilátóból, de a bányaterület csak kutatási céllal és előzetes engedéllyel látogatható.
A területen az üvegfújás emlékei is felfedezhetők: Pusztabánya közelében egy üveghuta másolatát, Kisújbányán az üvegharangot (érdemes betérni a klumpás múzeumba is), Hosszúhetényben pedig az üvegkiállítást nézhetjük meg.
