A mikóházi Fekete-hegy északnyugati letörése mellett kilátó emelkedik a lombkoronaszint fölé, ahonnan gyönyörű panoráma nyílik a Hegyköz medencéjére és a Milic tömbjére. A kilátóhoz vezető ösvény leágazásánál, a Fekete-hegy nyergénél, a már beerdősült Fekete-réten tágas esőbeállót és pihenőhelyet találunk.

A környék csúcspontja

A Fekete-hegy délceg vulkáni oromként csúcsosodik ki a lankásan hullámzó hegyvidékből, és 577 méterével a tágasabb környék legmagasabb csúcsa. (A szomszédos Sátoros-hegyek és a közeli Milic dácitvulkánjaitól szilíciumdús riolit építi felképítőkőzete különbözteti meg.) Bár a sziklás, köves hegytető természetes kilátást nem kínál, a csúcs északnyugati letörésénél faszerkezetes, hatszög alakú, 13 méter magas kilátótorony emelkedik a fák lombja fölé.

A Hegyköz felülnézetből

A félkörben kitárulkozó kilátás lebilincselő a kilátóból, bár a hegycsúcs dél-délkeleti irányban takarja a panorámát. Tökéletesen rálátni a Hegyköz tágas medencéjére és a felette emelkedő Milic tömbjére, ami a Tokaj–Eperjesi-hegylánc magyarországi részének legmagasabbra emelkedő vulkánja. Szembetűnő a füzéri vár, amely sziklataréjon ülő tornyaival legszebb oldalát mutatja erre, és erdőkkel határolt, a várhegyhez simuló falú épületeivel középkori hangulatot áraszt.

A Hegyköz medencéjétől délre eső hegyekre is rálátunk, alattunk Kovácsvágás házai ékelődnek a bércek közé, a Kőkaputól északra található Csattantyús-hegy egykori vulkáni központja pedig egybeolvad a Telkibánya fölötti, 700 métert meghaladó hegytetőkkel. A hegység központját a Milic tömbjével összekötő hegysorozat kiemelkedése a Telkibánya egykori gazdagságát szolgáltató Kánya-hegy, amely a rajta álló katonai lokátor miatt könnyen azonosítható. Északra tőlünk a Zempléni-dombság falvakkal szaggatott, alacsonyabb térszíne terül el, amin túl jó időben a Tokaj–Eperjesi-hegylánc felvidéki része, a Szalánci-hegység is megmutatkozik.

A Fekete-hegyre Mikóházáról felvezető út mentén tanösvény táblái állnak, amiken a környék természeti értékeiről olvashatunk.
