SALÜ, MEIN NAME IST NIEDERWALD

Es freut mich, dass ich mich dir vorstellen darf. Unter uns: Du darfst mich, wie meine Bewohner, «Niderwaud» nennen. Es gibt mich schon ziemlich lange. Um 1300 tauche ich als eigenständige Gemeinschaft in den Geschichtsbüchern auf. Meine Entstehung verdanke ich der alten Rhonebrücke oder «Rottebrigge» wie man hier sagt. Von Ernen her wechselt hier der alte Saumweg auf das rechte Ufer der Rhone. Mein ältestes noch bewohntes Haus stammt aus dem 16. Jahrhundert.

123 Menschen beleben um 1850 meine Gassen und Wege. 1950 sind es sogar deren 145. Doch die Hoffnung auf ein besseres Leben treibt meine Leute in die Ferne. 45 Bewohner sind es heute, die mich pflegen und stolz Heimat und Zuhause nennen. Ob die Abwanderung mich traurig stimmt? Ein wenig, doch nie in meiner Geschichte kamen mehr Menschen zu mir als jetzt. Zudem müssen meine alten Häuser kaum Neuem weichen. Das gibt dir die Chance, mit mir eine Zeitreise in die Vergangenheit zu machen.

Eines ist mir wichtig: Geh mit offenen Augen für die kleinen Dinge und mit genügend Zeit durch meine Gassen. Dann begegnet dir meine Geschichte auf Schritt und Tritt.
