Mein Dorfkern fiel 1932 einem Brand zum Opfer. Nur die Kirche und wenige Häuser oberhalb überstanden die Feuersbrunst. Innerhalb eines Jahres wurde ich 1933 im Heimatstil neu aufgebaut.
Meine umliegenden Weiler hingegen sind seit Jahrhunderten fast unberührt geblieben. Die Weiler Bodme, Ammere, Gadme und Wiler gehören gar zu den Ortsbildern von nationaler Bedeutung. Drei Kapellen und die Kirche sind Zeugnis des spirituellen Lebens meiner Bewohner. Mit rund sieben Metern Umfang findest du östlich von Bodme auch die mächtigsten Lärchenbäume des Wallis.
Der «Chaschtebiel» hoch über dem Dorf und die Brücke bei Bodme waren einst Versammlungsorte des Zehnden Goms. Chaschtebiel gilt als Kraftort und bietet einen unvergleichlichen Blick ins Tal. Durch einen meiner Bäche führt der längste Natur-Kneippweg der Schweiz. Dass ich mit meinen Natur- und Kulturwerten Aufnahme im Landschaftspark Binntal fand, macht mich stolz.
