In the north-east of Kuhmo, near the eastern border, Änättikoski rapid is famous for its trout. Hiding in the middle of a beautiful coniferous forest landscape, the rapids are definitely worth a visit.
Next to the Änättikoski fishing pier is a covered fireplace / cooking shelter. The distance from the parking lot is about 150 meters and there is a wide, well-maintained path. Änättikoski is ideal for family or group rapid fishing and wilderness picnics. Camping is possible in the vicinity of the covered fireplace. There is a dry toilet and a wood stove at the fire site.

The Änättijoki runs along the Kuhmo-Suomussalmi road (road-912), just north of the village of Lentiira. The rapids below the highway are called Aittokoski and the actual Änättikoski can be reached by following the signs on the forest road leading east from the north side of the bridge.
