The Änättikoski rapid, Lentiira Kuhmo

Lake Änättijärvi is a remote lake on the Russian border with the Änättikoski rapid in its outlet river. The Änättikoski rapid is known destination for catching authentic lake-dwelling brown trout from Lake Änätti and Lake Lentiira. Grayling are also frequently caught.

The head of the Änättikoski is the most popular fishing spot. A large pier for casting has been built at this spot, which provides easy fishing. The pier, a shelter for cooking, woodshed, outhouse, and wide footpaths enable even less sure-footed anglers to get a flavour of fishing. The Änättikoski rapid is ideally suited for families or groups who wish to find a destination for picnic outings. Also camping is allowed.

At a dozen metres in width, this rapid can be fished from the same side as the shelter, on a bank that is forested for its entire length. Below Änättikoski, the river becomes pool known as Suvanto. Then it narrows and turns to west picking up speed in Aittokoski rapid, which is closed for fishing.

€10/24 hours, €25/week, €50/season. Those under 15 years of age are charged only half a fee.
