Der Staffelsee liegt im Ammer-Loisach-Hügelland im Landkreis Garmisch-Partenkirchen und ist knapp fünf Kilometer lang. Am tiefsten Punkt erreicht er bis zu 40 Meter Tiefe.
Der Staffelsee erfreut sich als Badesee großer Beliebtheit. Sein Wasser ist mild, moorhaltig und erwärmt sich schnell. Regelmäßige Reinheitsmessungen garantieren eine gute Wasserqualität. Im Winter dient er Schlittschuhläufern, Eishockey-Spielern und Eisstockschützen mit seiner riesigen Eisfläche als Spielfeld. Sieben Inseln machen ihn zum inselreichsten See im Alpenvorland.

Beim Bootverleih Seehausen stehen einige Parkplätze zur Verfügung. Auch das Strandbad Alpenblick bietet Parkplatzmöglichkeiten. Ein öffentlicher Parkplatz befindet sich auch an der Westseite des Sees beim Gemeindebad Uffing
