Horný hodrušský tajch - pohľad na pláž.

Tajch slúži v súčasnosti na rekreačné účely. Má štrkovú pláž s pozvoľným vstupom do vody. Vhodný aj pre rodiny s deťmi. V blízkosti je veľké parkovisko, hotel, bufet a sedačková lanovka.

Najstaršia zmienka o Hornom hodrušskom tajchu je z roku 1617, kde sa spomína dvojica tajchov. Ďalšia zmienka je z roku 1630 v súvislosti so štôlňou Anna „pri tajchu“. Najstaršia zmienka z roku 1584 o tajchu v Hoelle sa s najväčšou pravdepodobnosťou vzťahuje ešte k Tajchu na Ciblíkovskej/Skautskej lúke. Hrádza, alebo jej najstaršia časť teda existuje najmenej 400 rokov. S tým ako sa zvyšovali ťažby, vzrastali aj nároky na vodu a jej pohonnú energiu. Okrem drvenia a mletia rudy sa voda používala aj na jej tavenie – voda totiž neúnavne poháňala dúchacie mechy pecí piatich hodrušských hút. Bolo treba viac vody zachytiť a púšťať podľa potreby.
