Fürst Ludwig von Nassau-Saarbrücken, Sohn und Nachfolger Wilhelm Heinrichs, nahm nach dem Tod seiner Frau, Fürstin Wilhelmine, 1787 die bürgerliche Katharina Kest, das Kindermädchen seiner Geliebten, Freifrau von Dorsberg, zur Frau. Schon 1784 war sie durch Kaiser Josef II. zur „Reichsgräfin von Ottweiler” erhoben worden. Bereits 1763 gründete Fürst Wilhelm von Nassau-Saarbrücken eine Porzellanmanufaktur, die aber um 1800 wieder geschlossen wurde. Kostbares und Rares ist teilweise hier erhalten und ausgestellt.
Ab und an kehrt die „Reichsgräfin von Ottweiler” auch heute noch nach Ottweiler zurück und empfängt mit ihrem Hofstaat im historischen Witwenpalais, in dem in zwischen das Landratsamt beheimatet ist, auf Wunsch auch Gäste zum Plausch.
