The Celtic Wall on Donnersberg is an impressive archaeological site in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Once the large Celtic city, called Oppidum, on the Donnersberg was enclosed by a wall 8.5km long. After the city was abandoned, the walls crumbled in their upper part. The earthen wall covered the still standing remains of the city wall and forms today the "Keltenwall".
A section of the former city wall was reconstructed and is visible today as the Celtic Wall. The walls consisted of a front wall built without mortar in dry construction technique from the ryholite rock on the hill and a rampart of earth and stones piled up behind it. At the top, the wall was crowned by a hülzeneres tail work.
