Bei der Umgestaltung des Schlossparks von Schloss Merten ließ der damalige Schlossherr Felix Graf Nesselrode auf der gegenüberliegenden Siegseite ein Tempelportal errichten, das seine Familie scherzhaft "Phantom" nannte. Mit dem auch "Gloriette" bezeichnete Scheingebäude wurde ein aus der französischen Gartenarchitektur bekannter Blickpunkt, ein sogenannter "Point de Vue" geschaffen.
Von dort oben hat man einen wunderschönen Blick auf den Ort Merten und das Gestüt.
