The winegrowing village of Albersweiler is located, surrounded by vineyards and chestnut forests, directly on the German Wine Route and in the Biosphere Reserve Palatinate Forest. Numerous paths invite you to stroll, hike, walk, cycle, and mountain bike. Especially dreamy are many paths in the vineyards in spring when, thanks to the mild climate, the almond trees bloom as early as March. Towards Geilweilerhof, it is not far to the Palatinate Almond Path.
Visitors best get to know the place on the "Historic Circular Path." The route begins at the train station and leads past sights such as the Albersweiler Canal, the historic cemetery with the foundations of the monastery church, and the Rococo villa in St. Johann. Along the approximately 6 km long stretch, numerous information boards provide explanations of the historical features.
Hikes through the vineyards to the viewpoints Orensfelsen and Hohenberg, to the Palatinate Forest huts Naturfreundehaus Kiesbuckel and Ringelsberghütte, and to the ruins of Neuscharfeneck start at the train station or at the hiking parking lot in St. Johann. The "Palatinate Hut Tour" is certified as a premium path by the German Hiking Institute. The tour 7 of the Mountain Bike Park Palatinate Forest begins at the train station. The two nature reserves around the village are home to endangered species of lichens, mosses, and grasshoppers. In addition, the "Pälzer Keschdeweg" runs right through Albersweiler.
After so much activity, there are also many moments of enjoyment in Albersweiler: the winemakers offer wine tastings, vineyard hikes, and tours of the winery, and the restaurateurs invite you to the table to enjoy regional specialties and products as well as delicious culinary creations.
