Wahrscheinlich wurde die Minneburg Anfang des 12. Jh. gegründet.
Ihre Glanzzeiten erlebte sie unter Wilhelm von Habern.
Nach dem 30-jährigen Krieg und der Zerstörung der Burg diente diese der Bevölkerung als Steinbruch.
Heute ist die Minneburg ein beliebtes Ausflugsziele. Man hat von ihr einen wunderschönen Ausblick ins Neckartal und Grillplätze laden zum längeren Verweilen ein.
Die Ruine ist eindrucksvoll anhand von 3-D-Modellen zu sehen. Die digitalisierten Burgmodelle sollen dazu dienen, neugierig zu machen, um einen Ausflug ins reelle Burgenreich zu wagen. Die digitalisierten Burgmodellen können auf der Homepage der Burglandschaft eingesehen werden.
