A Faház-tetői Szentélyerdő

A Gödöllői-dombság legidősebb fákból álló erdője egy parányi, négyszög alakú erdőrészlet, kőhajításnyira az M3-as autópályától. Egy 275 méteres magaslat, a Faház-tető közelében található, ahová pár perces sétával fel lehet kapaszkodni.

Az Országos Erdőállomány Adattár szerint a Gödöllőtől keletre fekvő Domony település községhatárába tartozó, nem egészen 6 hektárnyi gyertyános–kocsánytalan tölgyes fáinak kora 200 év körül jár. A terület állami tulajdonú, védett és a Natura 2000 hálózathoz tartozik. A Pilisi Parkerdő Zrt. által egy örökerdőként kezelt, nagyobb tömb részeként faanyagtermelést nem szolgáló üzemmódban van, ami természetvédelmi szempontból közel ideálisnak mondható.

A sűrű cserjeszintű, laza lombsátorral, sok felhalmozódott holtfával jellemezhető kis erdőtöredék záródott feás legelő benyomását kelti – mint sok más, öreg fákból álló erdő a dimbvidékeken. Szerény kiterjedése ellenére élőhelyi értékeket is tartogat: védett fajai közé tartozik a mogyorós pele, a zöld küllő, a diófacincér, a nagy pávaszem vagy éppen a tarka nőszirom.
