Auf dem Gries, in der Nähe des Nufenenpass, befindet sich auf rund 2500 Meter ü.M. der höchstgelegene Windpark Europas. Eine Pilotanlage wurde 2011 erstellt und im Jahr 2016 durch drei weitere Windkraftanlagen ergänzt. Zusammen bilden sie den ersten Windpark des Kantons Wallis. Der Bau dieses Windparks ist ein wichtiger Pfeiler für die Windenergie in der Schweiz, für die Stärkung der neuen erneuerbaren Energien im Wallis, und natürlich auch für die Gemeinde Obergoms, auf deren Gebiet sich der Windpark befindet.
