One of Matica Srpska’s most important contributions was the publication of Letopis Matice srpske, one of the oldest continuously published literary journals in Europe. The institution also developed major cultural branches, including the Gallery of Matica Srpska and the Matica Srpska Library, which today houses one of the largest collections of books and manuscripts in Serbia.
Through its scholarly work, publications, and cultural initiatives, Matica Srpska became a key institution preserving Serbian language, literature, and national identity. Today it remains an important center for research, publishing, and cultural cooperation, continuing the intellectual traditions that shaped the modern cultural life of Novi Sad and Serbia.
