Ein Zeitzeuge aus dem Spätmittelalter treffen

Den Bestand einer Kirche und eines Stützpunktes des Johanniterordens in Fürstenfeld bezeugt erstmals eine Urkunde aus dem Jahr 1232. Die Johanniter dürften bereits im Zuge des Ausbaus und der Befestigung von Fürstenfeld zu Beginn des 13. Jahrhunderts ein Grundstück an der geplanten Befestigungsanlage zugewiesen bekommen haben, auf dem sie neben ihrem Bruderhaus, das auch als Hospiz verwendet werden sollte, ein Spital und eine Kirche, die das Johannespatrozinium erhielt, errichten durften.
