1990 wurde dank der engagierten Bevölkerung mit einem Wiederaufbau der Kirche begonnen. Die rund 700.000 Euro wurden von einem ehrenamtlichen Verein gesammelt und teilweise von Firmen als Sachspenden gespendet.
Das vergoldete Turmkreuz wurde von Papst Johannes Paul II. gesegnet.
