Kath. Pfarrkirche. St. Georg wurde nach 888 durch Abt Hatto III (888-913) erbaut.

Die Kirche St. Georg wurde von Abt Hatto III. Ende des 9. Jahrhunderts erbaut. Hatto, der 896 mit König Arnulf zu dessen Kaiserkrönung nach Rom gereist war, erhielt dort von Papst Formosus das Haupt des hl. Georg. Er ließ die Reliquie auf die Reichenau bringen, wo sie ihren Platz in der Krypta der neuerrichteten Kirche fand. Mit dem heutigen Bau stehen noch große Teile der ursprünglichen Basilika.
Acht großflächige, mehr als 4 m breite und über 2 m hohe Wandbilder im Mittelschiff zeigen Wundertaten Jesu und illustrieren die Macht Jesu über Naturgewalten, Krankheiten, Leben und Tod.
Die Wandbilder entstanden Ende des 10. Jahrhunderts. Sie gehören damit zu den frühesten Zeugnissen ihrer Art nördlich der Alpen und stehen in engem Zusammenhang mit der im Reichenauer Skriptorium entstandenen Buchmalerei, die ebenfalls um 1000 ihren Höhepunkt erreichte.
