Chapel from the 15th century
After a comprehensive and extensive renovation from spring to the end of 2015, the chapel, which was modelled on the "Santa Maria ad Nives" church in Rome, can once again be used by the public.
The festive inauguration of this beautiful historical gem took place on 8 May 2016.
The snow chapel in its simple style blends harmoniously into the local landscape. Originally built as a field chapel, it was located outside the village. It is now bordered by a residential area to the west and the B33 motorway to the north-east.
The first chapel, today's choir room, was probably built in the late Gothic period in the second half of the 15th century and was first mentioned in the "Waydbrief" in 1522. The Baroque-style nave was built in 1715-1716 and the two parts were harmonised.
A baroque altar from the early 18th century adorns the small church, which is illuminated by six stained glass windows.
The coffered wooden ceiling from 1785 with 42 symbols of the "Lauretanian Litany" is culturally valuable.
From May to October, a rosary is prayed on Sundays at 1.15 pm, to which everyone is cordially invited. In May there are one or two May devotions and in the Advent season there are meditations and contemplative attunement to Christmas. (see church news in the Bürgerblatt)
