New building of the Gothic church of st. Wenceslas at the beginning of the 15th century, the position of the chancel on the slope was balanced by the establishment of several crypts.
The most important of these crypts is the so-called Lobkowicz Tomb. Here are the remains of Margaret Francis, born of Dietrichstein (1600–1617) and her husband, Wenceslas William Popel of Lobkowicz (1592–1621).
Around 1870, King Joseph II. ordered the destruction of cemeteries around churches in the middle of towns. At that time, other skeletal remains from the cemetery, which surrounded the church of Sts. Wenceslas. This created a monumental wall composed of these bones. Only in its front part can the skeletal remains of more than 2,000 people be estimated.
