Die jetzige Kapelle stammt aus dem Jahr 1716. Über dem Portal steht eine lateinische Inschrift, die übersetzt lautet: “Zusammengefallen durch Feuer 1716 wieder Aufgebaut”. In der französischen Revolution suchte ein Benediktinerbruder mit Namen Wilhelm Frank Zuflucht auf dem Blasiusberg. Im Anbau der heutigen Sakristei, richtete er sich eine Wohnung ein und lebte hier als Einsiedler. Er ist heute noch im Dorf unter dem Namen “Bruder Lappes” bekannt. Nach einem Gemeinderatsbeschluss von 1855 hat der Nagelschmied Johann König der Gemeinde die Kapelle für 40 Taler verkauft. 1909 ging sie in den Besitz der Pfarrgemeinde Tholey über. Die Kapelle ist bis heute das historische Kleinod des Ortes Bergweiler geblieben.
