The evocative Marocche desert, born from the glacial phenomenon that led to the formation of an impressive scree, extends from the foot of Castel Drena.
Built during the 12th century, with its 25 m high tower, it overlooked the road that connected the Sarca plain to the Cavedine valley. Its strategic position made it the subject of constant disputes in the Middle Ages, until 1703 when it was razed to the ground by the army of the French general Vendome. Thanks to a careful restoration by the Province of Trento, it now is possible to visit the complex, with a Ghibeline merlon surrounding the remains of the Count's palace, a small chapel and other buildings.
