The Valle di Cavedine valley is also known as "Val del Vent" (Valley of the Wind) due to the winds blowing from Lake Garda towards the north. Near Lake Cavedine, you will encounter a phenomenon unique to the whole Trentino region: the Marocche. A dry biotope resembling a lunar landscape, formed between the blocks of a rockfall.
From the ➊ car park (90 m) head towards Arco (immediately over the bicycle path bridge or bypass the suburb) to the bridge over the ➋ Sarca river. Along the paid parking lot of Arco, cycle to the ➌ Bicigrill Moletta rest station. Leave the cycle path, cross the main road at the traffic lights and follow Via San Martion towards Carobbi/Baila. On the steady ascent, pass the Policromuro climbing garden ➍ and the chestnut wood of ➎ Pianaura (350 m). At the fork, keep left and cross the highest point of 540 m. Always heading towards Braila, you reach an ➏ iron cross; take the left street down to ➐ Braila Bassa and follow the paved road downhill to Via del Castello in ➑ Drena. Along the road to the foot of the ➒ Castel Drena castle. Continue for about 2 km on provincial road SP 84, and at the ➓ junction head towards ⓫ Lago di Cavedine.
