Die Lechauen – Vielfalt im Querschnitt

Obwohl die nächste Staustufe nicht weit entfernt ist, kann man hier nahe der Schwerblmühle noch einen guten Eindruck gewinnen, wie vielfältig die Lechauen in ihrem natürlichen Zustand waren: Hier hat sich in einem kleinen Bereich das ursprüngliche Mosaik miteinander verzahnter, aber doch ganz verschiedener Lebensräume erhalten, das für Alpenflüsse wie den Lech einst typisch war:

Das Gelände ist durchzogen vonAltarmen, einem Bach und Altwassern. Schütter bewachsene Kiesbänke, orchideenreiche Trockenrasen und Weidengebüsche, aber auch schilfbewachsene Uferzonen und moorige Bereiche bieten hier auf engstem Raum ganz unterschiedliche Lebensbedingungen für Tiere und Pflanzen: Licht und Schatten, trocken und nass, warm und kalt, viel oder wenig Bewuchs… Vielfältige Lebensbedingungen bedeuten große Artenvielfalt!

 

Die Mosaikjungfer

Vor allem die Lech-Altarme sind Brut- und Nahrungshabitat für Libellen wie die farbenfrohe Mosaikjungfer. Hier finden sie genug Klein-Insekten zu fressen.

 

Die Sumpfschrecke

Die Sumpfschrecke ist eine stark gefährdete und streng geschützte Heuschreckenart. Sie wird bis zu 40 mm groß und ist prächtig gelb, grün und braun gefärbt. Sie bewohnt vor allem feuchte, magere Wiesen und Seggenbereiche an Ufern. Im Sommer ist die Sumpfschrecke leicht zu hören: Die Paarungslaute hören sich wie ein kurzes Schnippen mit den Fingernägeln. Eine junge Sumpfschrecke muss sich  fünf- bis  zehnmal verpuppen, bis sie „erwachsen“ ist! Durch die Trockenlegung von Überschwemmungsgebieten und die intensive Nutzung ehemaliger Nasswiesen ist die Art mittlerweile sehr selten geworden.

 

Die Lavendelweide

Diese Weidenart hat Ihren Namen von ihren schmalen, lavendelähnlichen Blättern. Sie ist eine typische Art der Weichholzaue des Oberlaufs von Alpenflüssen mit starkem Gefälle. Die Lavendelweide bevorzugt wechselfeuchte bis trockene, meist kalkhaltige Böden auf Ufer- und Schotterbänken von Gebirgs- und Vorgebirgsflüssen und bildet dort als raschwüchsige  und regenerationsfreudige Buschweide niedrige Säume. Weiden sind wichtige Futterpflanzen für z.B. Bienen und Schmetterlinge.
