Steine sind eine wahre Fundgrube für uns Spurensucher. Was könnten diese Steine alles erzählen? Viele haben die Dinos vielleicht noch „live“ erlebt!

Diese Station führt uns zum Zentralen Omnibusbahnhof (ZOB), hoch hinauf auf das oberste Parkdeck. Dort bietet sich ein herrlicher Ausblick auf die Stadt. Hinter Ihnen (im Osten) geht es hinauf ins Obere Gäu, unter und vor Ihnen liegen das Nagoldtal und die Stadt. Dahinter (im Westen) breitet sich der Schwarzwald ausl. Die Nagold fließt nach Norden - das ist von Ihnen aus gesehen nach rechts.

Städte sind künstliche Gesteinslandschaften. Die Vielfalt der verwendeten Gesteinsarten kann dabei beachtliche Dimensionen erreichen. Bei den Natursteinen werden drei große Kategorien unterschieden. Durch langsame Ablagerung feiner Teilchen wie Sand oder Kalk entstehen Sedimentgesteine, erkennbar an ihrer mehr oder weniger ausgeprägten Schichtung (Beispiele: Buntsandstein, Muschelkalk). Durch Abkühlung und Auskristallisierung von flüssiger Gesteinsschmelze entstehen magmatische Gesteine, aus denen der Großteil der festen Erdkruste zusammengesetzt ist (Beispiele: Granit, Basalt). Unter Druck und Hitze schließlich werden die Gesteine verformt und um kristallisiert in die metamorphen Gesteine (Beispiele: Gneis, Schiefer). Sie sind oft erkennbar an einer Schieferung. Große Bedeutung haben im modernen Städtebau die künstlichen Steine, die in industriellen Verfahren hergestellt werden (Beispiele: Beton, Asphalt, Ton). Ökologisch relevante Kriterien bei der Materialauswahl sind Herstellung, Abbau, Transport, Haltbarkeit, Wiederverwendbarkeit, aber auch Landschaftsästhetik.


Bei den Steinen werden drei große Kategorien unterschieden:

  • Durch Ablagerung feiner Teilchen entstehen die Sedimentgesteine, erkennbar an ihrer Schichtung (Beispiele: Buntsandstein, Muschelkalk)
  • Magmatische Gesteine entstehen durch Abkühlung und Auskristallisierung einer Gesteinsschmelze (Beispiele: Granit, Basalt)
  • Unter Druck und Hitze entstehen metamorphe Gesteine (Beispiele: Gneis, Schiefer)

Hören - Vom Parkhaus ZOB aus haben Sie auch akustisch einen Überblick - vielleicht überlagert von einfahrenden Zügen, Lautsprecheransagen usw.

Sehen - Buntsandstein-Aufschluss am Hang hinter dem Bahngleis. Markantes Buntsandsteingebäude ist die Stadtkirche. Wer genauer hinschaut, entdeckt im Stadtgebiet weitere Buntsandsteingebäude und Aufschlüsse.

Fühlen - Woher weht der Wind? Finger befeuchten und die Luft halten - von der kühlen Seite weht der Wind! Achten Sie auf die Windrichtung relativ zur Tallage: talauf/ talab oder quer zum Tal bergauf/bergab?

Machen - Die Nagold schuf ein tiefes Tal im Buntsandstein - die Flusaue ist vom Menschen geprägt, Tiere und Pflanzen wurden verdrängt
