Balatonlelle középső részén, a hajóállomás nyugati részén kezdődik a hosszan elnyúló Nyugati szabadstrand, ami egészen a város határáig tart. A strand mintegy 2 km hosszú, néhol 100 méter széles zöldsávval. A partot szépen gondozott gyep fedi, azon öreg fák állnak, árnyékot vetve a területre. A vízbe a Balatonnál már megszokott fém lépcsők vezetnek a betonozott partról. A strandon több büfét is találunk, ezeknek közelében találhatók a játszóterek, mosdók, öltözök.
Sportpályákat is kialakítottak a parton, így teniszezhetünk, strandröplabdázhatunk is. A strand kikötő felőli végén pedig van egy óriáscsúszda, emellett vízibiciklit és strandkajakot is kölcsönözhetünk. Ha pedig ez sem lenne elég, a sekély, lassan mélyülő tópart a kisgyermekes családok körében is népszerű.
