In the hot summer days nothing is better than dipping into a lake at one of Vuokatti's beaches. The best one is the Hiukka beach, that is easily reached from the Sotkamo center.
The Riviera of Kainuu lakeland
Hiukka beach in Sotkamo is a perfect swimming spot and a place with magnificent views. This beach is great for the whole family to enjoy. Lake Sapsojärvi is shallow and comfortable to have fun in the water. The beach has an 'EU beach' certification which is a guarantee for the water to be clean.
In summer there is a café offering diverse snacks and drinks.
You will find beach volleyball field on the beach and a tennis court in the park. There are convenient walking paths and a nature trail leading to the beach. In winter these paths turn into ski tracks that can be reached from Vuokatti on crosscountry skis.
