This route from Trieste to Aquileia connects the southwestern network of Slovenian pilgrimage paths ending in Trieste to the beginning of the Via Postumia, which leads westwards through the Po Valley to Genoa and there joins the pilgrimage path along the Italian Riviera. On the way there, the Via Postumia also crosses some routes leading to Rome.
