This route from Trieste to Aquileia connects the southwestern network of Slovenian pilgrimage paths ending in Trieste to the beginning of the Via Postumia, which leads westwards through the Po Valley to Genoa and there joins the pilgrimage path along the Italian Riviera. On the way there, the Via Postumia also crosses some routes leading to Rome.

This path is not signposted and documents a continuous connection, which in sections is also used by the Via Alpina. Our proposed route starts at the cathedral of Trieste, runs largely parallel to the Adriatic coast, and ends at the monastery in Aquileia. The route can be divided into 2 to 3 days stages.

We leave Trieste not along the coast but ascend a little, where we can escape the city bustle and enjoy the beauty of the coast from the height.
