Pilgrim walks in Arnoldstein

This variant starting from Arnoldstein leads via Thörl Maglern and Coccau directly across the Austrian-Italian border, connecting both countries and the pilgrim routes in Carinthia with the extensive network of the Romea Strata. It follows the old Roman road between Aquileia and Virunum, the capital of the province Noricum, and was an important trade, transport, and pilgrim route in the Middle Ages. After Tarvisio, it ascends to the international pilgrimage center and sanctuary of Monte Lussari.

Über Thörl Maglern und Coccau führt die Etappe über die österreichisch-italienische Grenze, verbindet beide Länder und die Pilgerwege in Kärnten mit dem weiten Netz der Romea Strata (hier mit Beginn der Allemagna). Sie führt auf der alten Römerstraße zwischen Aquileia und Virunum, der Hauptstadt der Provinz Norikum und war ein wichtiger Handels-, Verkehrs- und Pilgerweg im Mittelalter. Nach Tarvisio geht es bergwärts zum internationalen Wallfahrtszentrum und Heiligtum von Monte Lussari.
