S02 Warmbad Villach - Agoritschach | Way of the Book South
From the spa park in Warmbad Villach, past the Roman remains into the Schütt, along the Gail to Arnoldstein to the monastery ruins and to the evangelical church in Agoritschach.
Welcome to the 2nd stage of the South route of the Way of the Book, which leads from Treffen through the most beautiful and remote holiday regions of Slovenia to Trieste. The South route continues the Way of the Book and introduces both the Protestant Countess Elvine de La Tour (1841-1916), whose social commitment led to the founding of the diaconia in Austria, and the significant Slovenian reformer and scholar Primož Trubar (1508-1586).
The Roman vehicles already traveled the hiking trails in the spa park Warmbad Villach. Dry stream beds (Studenca spring) can carry a lot of water after rainfall on the Dobratsch. Through the "Schütt", a former rockslide from the Dobratsch, we hike along the Gail to the monastery ruins in Arnoldstein and up to the evangelical church in Agoritschach.
The Way of the Book South is a project of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Austria and makes a little-known piece of its history visible.
