From Reichental via Waidmannsfeld to the Plattenstein (Gauermannhütte 1,154 m), on via the Katharinenschlag (1,222 m) to the Öhler Schutzhaus (1.027 m), then over the Öhler-Schoberkamm (Öhler 1,183 m, Schober 1,213 m) to the Mamauwiese (957 m) and finally over the Dürre Leiten to the Edelweisshütte (1,248 m).

Beautiful hike from Reichental via Öhler, Schober, Maumauwiese to the Edelweisshütte. Mostly narrow paths, sometimes a bit steeper. Along the way is the small, rustic Gauermannshütte, the Öhler Schutzhaus and the Edelweisshütte. Suitable for children, especially the route from the Öhler Schutzhaus in the opposite direction to the Gauermannshütte. The path from the Öhler Schutzhaus to the Maumauwiese is a bit more difficult, partly narrow and secured with nets.

Steep ascent via Krumme Ries, stop for refreshments at the Waldegger Haus, descent via 7 ladders on the Waldegger Steig.
Alternatively, the ascent via the Naturfreundesteig is also beautiful and feasible. The actual Naturfreunde via ferrata section is short—about 50 meters in elevation gain—but adventurous and secured with historic iron bars and clamps.
