To celebrate the 125th anniversary of HTL Wiener Neustadt, the HTL-Steig was established as the first sports via ferrata on the eastern edge of the Alps and was enthusiastically received very quickly. Consistently very high difficulty, spectacular individual sections, and a popular stopping point near the exit create a mix that fully fits the advanced pleasure trend and has therefore rightly gained great acclaim. For those arriving by public transport, a special variant is recommended, namely combining it with a crossing of Hohe Wand and descent through the Große Klause into the Piesting valley. The train makes it possible! With the complete renovation of the via ferrata by the Austrian Tourist Club in spring 2018, it also received a new name: ÖTK-Steig.
